Laura used a waste material from Forbo Flooring to create wall tiles. The tiles are made of 50% Forbo jute fiber and 50% porcelain plaster. Jute fiber is the only waste material in the production process of Forbo linoleum. By combining it with porcelain plaster, the fluff is transformed into very strong tiles with distinct patterns. The original properties of the porcelain are changed by this addition. Giving this waste material a second life and new durable purpose. By using this waste material, Forbo linoleum becomes a zero-waste product.
Laura received a commendation certificate for this project during the International Green Interior Awards 2017 in the category Student Product Innovation.
